Brief Timeline of Mexican History
1400-100BCE
At around 1400 BCE, the Olmec civilization starts to develop. 400 years later the Mayan Civilization develops, and 900 years later at 100BCE, they build the first pyramid in Mexico. The Mayans were also famous for the Mayan calender, which goes all the way to December 2012.
1000-1600 CE
1000 years later the Mayan culture colapses, and the Aztecs arrive in Mexico. They thrive for 400 years, until the arrival of Hernandez de Cordoba and the spanish colonists, who defeat the Aztecs and take Mexico for Spain.
1810-1824
The Mexican War of Independence begins, led by the Catholic priest Miguel Hidalgo. He dies one year later, but the revolution ends in 1821 on September 21st. By 1824, Mexico had become its own republic
1835-1853
The Texas Revolution begins in 1885 and ends one year later with Texas declaring its independence from Mexico. 10 years after that, the Mexican-American war begins, and by the end of it, Mexico loses a lot of teritory to the United States. They would then sell more land to the US as part of the Gasden Purchase.
1861-1917
In 1861, The French invade Mexico and install a new president in 1864. By 1867, the French are driven out and a new president is installed.
In 1910, the Mexican revolution begins, which leads to the death of their dictator and the Mexican Constitution being adopted by 1917
