Culture

The people of Mexico are known for their pride of their heritage and culture. The culture of Mexico is comprised of the many civilizations of those before them, and the diversity of the people there today.

Most of the Mexican population decends from indigenous groups, with 62% being Indigenous-Spanish, 21% being predominantly Indigenous, 7% Indigenous, and 10% European.
Mexico was originally comprised of 5 main groups: Olmec, Maya, Teotihuacan, Toltec, and Aztec. Outside of those, there are over 68 indigenous groups in Mexico today. The traditions of old indigenous groups still are rooted into Mexican culture to this day.
Many generations of Mexican families usually live under one roof. Because of this Mexicans have very strong family values. Family events are usually large, especially weddings and Quiceneras.
The dominant religion in Mexico is Catholocism, with over 78% of the population being Catholic. Many of their ancestors beliefs also made their way into their culture, with Dia de los Muertos deriving from old beliefs about death.
